Director of Communications & Public Affairs

The Director of Public Affairs will lead their team to coordinate the organization’s overall community impact strategy. Reporting solely to senior management the candidate will work collaboratively with senior leadership to develop and implement dynamic strategies using data insights to broaden the impact of Manifezt Foundation’s programs and oversee organizational messaging and constituent services.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the senior leadership to develop communications strategies that will broaden programmatic reach and deepen impact.
  • Develop and refine Manifezt Foundation Nonprofit’s “core” messages to ensure organizational consistency.
  • Identify significant media and public policy issues that can be leveraged to support Manifezt Foundation Nonprofit’s work, and create and implement plans to exploit them.

Qualifications

  • Significant communications experience that includes a blend of grass roots, advocacy, media relations.
  • A strong track record of positioning an organization to achieve tangible outcomes in a competitive environment.

Government Relations Liaison

Manifezt Foundation is striving to become the nations leading community development nonprofit. Together with our charitable partners, our organization is developing evidence-based policy and legislative insights designed to communicate the impact our initiatives deliver on the local, state, and federal levels.

Our organization is seeking to acquire a motivated Government Relations Liaison that can develop and execute comprehensive high level strategies with the goal achieve incremental success towards our national agendas. An outstanding candidate will work towards developing relationships with public and private sector organizations that align with our goals.

Major Responsibilities

  • Actively serve as an ambassador for the Manifezt at state legislatures and congressional offices, appropriately demonstrating the values and reputation of the enterprise and its brand.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with local, state, and federal elected officials and staff, state department heads and administrative staff.
  • Monitor and analyze all relevant pieces of legislation and provide or facilitate oral and written testimony in accordance with Manifezt Foundation’s policy.
  • In close collaboration with other team members and national colleagues, lead planning and implementation of comprehensive and strategic issue campaigns to achieve progress towards legislative and appropriations successes at the state/local level.
  • Defeat legislation that would negatively impact our organizations mission.
  • Serve as an organization media spokesperson on local and state policies.
  • Actively serve as Manifezt’s representative on coalitions aimed at advancing public policy priorities.
  • Develop state legislative agendas and supporting materials that include thorough documentation, ensuring consistency with Manifezt’s policy positions and messaging.
  • Closely collaborate with relevant state agency personnel.
  • Enhance the overall external visibility of the enterprise in a positive fashion.
  • Support all grassroots efforts as needed.
  • Help grassroots staff to conduct training’s as needed for volunteers and staff, and help prepare volunteers for meetings, testimony, etc.
  • Help the leadership build capacity by working in concert with initiatives to engage and communicate with volunteer network.
  • Support and/or take the lead on Manifezt grant fundraising activities, towards achievement of an annual fundraising goal, including relationship development and management with corporate and high net worth donors.
  • Serve on management teams, where appropriate.
  • Assist with where relevant, and adhere with all IRS  legal guidelines and reporting.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science or related field, and a minimum of 6 years relevant work experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of the legislative process and political landscape.
  • Excellent written, oral, interpersonal and computer skills required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum direction as well as work as a member or leader of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on fast-paced, time-sensitive matters with internal and external constituents.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse individuals and communities.
  • Ability to complete work in a timely and efficient manner and ensure work is accurate.
  • Ability to utilize available technology to perform position responsibilities.

Corporate Sponsor Associate

Reporting to the Director of Nonprofit Development (DND), the Corporate Sponsor Associate, serves as a key leadership team member and an active participant in making strategic decisions affecting Manifezt Foundation. In partnership with the DND, this position is responsible for all fundraising and development activities. The successful candidate will help forge new relationships to build Manifezt Foundation’s visibility, impact, and financial resources. The Corporate Sponsor Associate also will design and implement a comprehensive plan for developing key external alliances by cultivating individual and philanthropic support.

S/he will expand and diversify Manifezt Foundation’s donor base/pipeline and work closely with other team members to secure funding for new initiatives. In addition, the Associate Director of Development will work closely with the board of directors and support board members as they take on a more active fundraising role.

It is expected that the amount raised by Manifezt Foundation will increase in future years as the Corporate Sponsor Associate systematically and effectively strengthens the organization’s overall fundraising capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Support and partner with the DND and board members on all major fundraising initiatives
  • Collaborate with senior leader to develop and implement Manifezt Foundation’s financial strategy
  • Actively work with the DND and senior staff to develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy to include corporate, foundation, government grants, etc.
  • Have primary responsibility for development and execution of all proposals; write and archive all proposals with a long-term relationship-management approach including updating donors on latest organization development
  • Oversee research funding sources and trends, with foresight, to help position Manifezt Foundation ahead of major funding changes or trends
  • Monitor all donor information; provide and present statistical analysis to board and senior leaders
  • Develop and implement a stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors
  • Monitor and report regularly on the progress of the development program
  • Identify, develop, and mentor the development team

Requirements

  • Demonstrated success in a development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple channels)
  • Tangible experience of having expanded and cultivated existing relationships over time
  • Proven track record of developing relationships with high net-worth individuals
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Flexible and adaptable style; a leader who can positively impact both strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives
  • Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside Manifezt Foundation
  • High energy and passion for Manifezt Foundation’s mission is essential
  • Ability to construct, articulate, and implement annual strategic development plan
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail
